In thinking about the art of surrendering to where we are now, and letting go of everything toxic, I sank my mind deeper into the possibilities, while sinking my sacrum a little lower. After class, I packed up my mat, got in my car, and before I could turn on the ignition, my mind ignited and started a mental vinyasa flowing with curiosity. Where does the courageous surrender, found in letting go, lead us?
Does letting go of caffeine for a couple days create space to release an addiction? How about letting go of that scoop of ice cream or the cookie we depend on for comfort each night?
Does letting go of the daily junk food create space for healthy habits to arise? Does it maybe wean us off the external and short lived comfort, so that we can discover where the roots of our most sustainable and pure pleasure manifests - from within?
What about an unhealthy relationship? Can we let go of toxic relationships or the behaviors that create poisonous pathways into our hearts and minds? In the act of letting go of those relationships, can we do so in ways that creates space to love the person, while releasing ties to their behavior? Maybe in letting go, we create an opening that allows a toxic relationship to be cleansed, healed, and renewed into a healthy one.
Can we let go of childhood trauma and past pain that has molded our minds, hearts and even bodies, into the form we are in today? Can we forgive all who have hurt us, and send them gratitude? Most importantly, can we forgive ourselves and send gratitude within? Maybe we create space for our own enlightenment in doing so. Maybe we intuitively discover a deeper understanding of the pain those whom have hurt us, have encountered, and we send them not just forgiveness and gratitude, but also compassion and love.
Can we let go of images that do not serve us? Whatever that may be for each of us. Let go of control and judgment. Give the space we create, the opportunity to stretch a little further and fill in the blank for us. Let faith, karma, and the divine work, while we focus on giving our highest self to each person who crosses our path and everything we touch.
What happens when we let go and find ourselves in pain? The headache we experience when we cut out caffeine; the anxiety that creeps in when we change the dynamic of a relationship; the emptiness felt when we don't have that cookie for comfort. Can we sink deeper into the pain, find our inner Phoenix, and rise through it? Or do we let that pain fully sink us and keep us in old patterns? We'll never know if we are not willing to detach with faith, let go with love, and create a little space. What will you let go of, to create new opportunities in the space you are in right now? Maybe you let go of judgement. Maybe you renounce your ego. Maybe you cut out caffeine, the late night sugary indulgence, or whatever it is that keeps you from experiencing your inner bliss.
With love, Namaste!
